A very Happy New Year to all our Friends of Gardening Leave and I wish you all a healthy and peaceful year ahead.

Now that Christmas is over and 2012 has begun this is an exciting time for the Friends. Our site will be opening to new members in the next few weeks and we are putting together our programme of events and news which all members, old and new will be able to access. Anna and I will be writing every couple of weeks letting you know what’s happening at Gardening Leave and hopefully encouraging you as Friends to support and continue as our valuable ambassadors.

With the arrival of the freezing cold and wet weather it’s hard to imagine being outdoors and gardening but work is still going on at Gardening Leave, fuelled by many cups of scalding tea and the last bits of Christmas cake!  Talking of cake there’s still room to join in with our GL runners – no-one has been brave enough yet to come forward as a 10k runner – shame on you! Do get in touch if you want to take part in this activity.

If you prefer the less energetic events we are planning to have a fundraising concert in the summer and are in touch with some wonderful young musicians. If anybody has a venue they could suggest or better still offer for an evening of classical music I would love to hear from you – perhaps even with a garden then we can have an outdoor concert – music and Pimms on a June evening wouldn’t that be great?

With all best wishes and as ever thanks for your fantastic support,

Marion Blair
